  1. Strategic innovations are meeting historical roadblocks: While many leaders report that procurement is evolving at a rapid pace, longstanding road blocks such as organizational complexities, budgets, and supplier relationsihps still hamper progress

  2. Optimizations inspired by improved insights: Respondents almost universally agreed that procurement has room for optimization, with many zeroing in on the need for stronger data, insights, and analysis

  3. Supplier relationships can make or break: Respondents cited their suppliers' inability to support digital procurement and their lack of clear communcation and support as two of the most important challenges to procurement operations today

  4. Impactful purchasing rises in importance: Responsible purchasing remains top of mind, with 80% of decision-makers saying their organizations have mandates or goals for working with certified suppliers
